Android.Process.Media has stopped error is mostly the common error. Most of the Android users faced this problem. This problem is mostly caused because of the two applications, the Download Manager and the Media Storage. The Android multimedia framework includes support for a variety of standard media types to integrate audio, video, and image onto applications easily.

Method 1: Clear Cache and Data

The essential solutions to most of the problems are clearing the cache file and data of the specific application. For this error, specifically, one needs to clear the cache and data for the Google Services Framework and Google Play Store. For Clearing Google Services Framework data and cache here are the following steps:

Step 1: Firstly go to the settings on the Android device.

Step 2: After that, go on the App Settings section.

Step 3: Then click on the ‘Installed apps’.

Step 4: Now tap on the Google Services Framework after searching for it.

Step 5: Now click on the clear data and clear cache.

Now for clearing Google Play Store Data and Cache here are the following steps:

Firstly go to settings on the Android device.

Step 1: Then go on the App Settings section.

Step 2: Now click on the ‘Installed apps’.

Step 3: After that, search for the ‘Google Play Store’.

Step 4: Then click on it.

Step 5: Lastly, click on the clear data and clear cache.

Now click o. Force stop by going to the app settings of the Google Services Framework and clear cache again. After clearing the cache and data restart the Android device. Lastly, check whether the issue is resolved or not.

Method 2: Clear Contacts and Contact Storage

For solving the problem, clear the contact. Before clearing the contact, one should take up the back-up as it will remove all the contact. Follow the steps for clearing contacts and contact storage:

Step 1: Firstly go to the settings on the Android device.

Step 2: After that, go on the App Settings section.

Step 3: Now click on the ‘installed apps’.

Step 4: Then click on the three-dot menu icon, which is present on the top right corner of the screen.

Step 5: Now select the ‘Show all apps’.

Step 6: Then click on the contact storage after searching it.

Step 7: Now click on both the clear data and clear cache of the specific app.

Step 8: Then follow the steps mentioned above for the ‘Contacts and dialer’ app also.

Step 9: Now check if the Android.Process.The media stopped error is fixed or not.

Method 3: Reset App Preferences

Android is loaded with many new features and settings. It also consists of some hidden gestures as well. Moreover, some settings and features are easy to understand, and some are quite vague. One of those settings involves Reset app preferences.

This setting is hidden under the installed app setting of the Android phone. After clicking on the Reset app preferences option present in it, a pop-up list will appear with different features. For resetting the app preferences, the following steps should be followed:

Step 2: Then go to the App Settings section.

Step 3: Now click on the installed app.

Method 4: Disable the Media Storage

To fix the error, the cache and data should be cleared for the Download Manager and Media Storage. Most of the users claimed this method to be effective. For disabling the media storage here are the following steps:

Step 1: Firstly go to the settings on the Android device.

Step 2: Then go to the App Settings section.

Step 3: After that, click on the ‘Installed app’.

Step 4: Now, after finding the app click on the three-dot menu icon on the top right corner of the screen, then select the Show all apps option.

Step 5: After that search for Media Storage or Download Manager app.

Step 6: Then, from the search result, click on it and then click on the force stop.

Now after that, check whether the Android.Process.Media Has Stopped issue is resolved or not while using the device.

Method 5: Check Google Sync & Media Storage Settings

Follow this method for solving the problem. Here are the following steps:

Step 1: Firstly go to Settings → Accounts and Personal → Google Sync.

Step 2: Now, to stop the Google Synchronization unchecks all the checkboxes.

Step 3: Then, by going to Settings → Apps → All Apps → find the media storage → clear data → Disable. Then disable and clear all media storage data.

Step 4: Now, to clear the Download Manager data to use the same method as mention above.

Step5: Lastly, turn off the device and then turn it on.
